PLASTIC ANIMALS

Spending time with my 3 year old son, and researching a bit at the same time...

Monday

MIROCO MACHIKO

Look at these!
I absoloutely love Miroco Machiko's weird stretchy animals. Those proportions! I find it extremely difficult to capture the naivity of a child's drawing, she does it SO well.

Sunday

ALPACA FACES :)

My new favorite animal. A fluffy Alpaca. That fluffy face and big brown eyes are to die for. I also love their figure, there's something about the proportions (when they are not completely trimmed down).

BETSY YOUNGQUIST

Mixed media beaded work by American artist Betsy Youngquist:

Monday

OWLS

I love Picasso's owl sculptures. They look so sweet and insecure.

Wednesday

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I found this in a box of children's toys. I am not sure what it is. But it comes with peace, that I am sure of.

Sunday

A BUNCH OF BIRDS

Some recent drawings:

A GIFT FROM MEXICO

My friend came home from a trip to Mexico the other day, and she gave my son this beautiful crocodile.
I love the unscrupulous stitching.

Thursday

A PURPLE ONE IN THE MAKING

Working on my second embroidered beetle. After I finish this one, I will make some other motifs.

CELESTINO PIATTI

I want to get hold of Celestino Piatti's Animal ABC:

Tuesday

ZOO

We went to Copenhagen Zoo, just before our son was born. Now I can truly identify with this female baboon...

LONG STITCH SHORT STITCH

I have decided to experiment with some old handicrafts, such as embroidery, weaving, block printing etc.
After some tests, I made this beetle type of thing, using 'long stitch short stitch'.
